Delicious Dragonfruit!

Found a lovely dragon fruit at our local organic market the other day and thought it might make a good photographic subject! Cutting it open, I was filled with awe at how incredibly bright the pink hues were inside. It had a mild sweet flavor unlike anything I can really describe...perhaps with hints of vanilla taste and a honeydew creamy texture. There are other varieties with white flesh, so I was unsure what type I bought.  There are many kinds all over the world and have different names based on their flavors which can range from sweet to more tart. Just reading it's Wikipedia page, you realize what an amazing fruit this really is.

Hi Lara, I cannot wait to experiment with Dragon Fruit as well. Next time we go to our Asian grocery store I'm going to come home with one.

On another note, you mentioned my Sony NEX-3. Yes! It is an awesome camera that is smaller than a Canon/Nikon but bigger than a Point and Shoot. I loved it. I say love-ed because it fell over on my tripod (with my 50mm 2.8 macro lens attached) and broke. I was heart-broken!

The BB's Cafe pics were with a Canon 60D 18-135mm lens. I love it but do miss that little Sony NEX.
awww that's horrible! :( My heart would have sunk as well...

I have a nice Nikon D80 with a lot of lenses, so I'll definitely keep using that one. But my Lumix point and shoot (although an awesome camera) has some scratches on the lens now and with an upcoming trip to New Zealand coming up, I need something as beefy as my DSLR, but not as heavy. so I thought I'd get the NEX-5 actually...

did you buy the extra 50mm lens? The package I'm looking at comes with one I believe...hrm. but that's something to think about being top heavy for a tripod...
